We are seeking individuals with specialist registration in Infectious diseases with GIM, Medical microbiology, and Medical microbiology with ID as part of an expansion and reshaping of our infection services There wide ranging opportunities to contribute to all aspects of our clinical infection service including developing special interests and research The appointees will join a current team of 4 substantive and 2 Locum Consultants in Medical Microbiology, two Trainee Clinical Scientists and an ID/Acute medicine physician. The post holder will also work closely with 2 Antimicrobial pharmacists and a vibrant IPAC team. The posts are based in the clinical microbiology department on the Royal Cornwall Hospital (RCH) site in Truro, Cornwall . The post is designed to enable the Trust to develop and enhance the clinical liaison and infection service including future development of inpatient ID service and establish clinical infection training across RCHT, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. There will also be opportunities to contribute to future services across the peninsula pathology network. Discussion of special interest, less than full time and hybrid working are welcomed. The posts are permanent. The scope of these posts include the following activities arranged in rotation among the team with ample opportunity to develop special interests such as specialist team support, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control as well as outpatient antibiotic support or rapid access Advice on investigation and management of infections Inpatient ID consults Bacteraemia and significant infection rounds Day-to-day support for all aspects of the diagnostic laboratory IPAC and AMS support Liaison with health protection teams Out of hours cover. This is currently provided on a 1:4 rota. Any responsibility that relates to a special interest. Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff. Contribute to the teaching commitment for the Peninsula Medical School. Support specialist MDTs Please note: This is a permanent consultant post and will require an AAC panel interview. As such, you must be on the specialist register or have a pending a CCT date. You can view your registration status via gmc-uk.org/doctors/ before applying.
