This placement is for 12 months initially but may be extended. This is an exciting opportunity to get excellent experience in neurosurgery. The post holder will be part of a team which include run through trainees as well as other trust grade doctors. You will work closely with consultants, other junior doctors and multi-disciplinary teams. The post holder will be part of an on call rota at QMC. There are ample opportunities for work based assessments from the supervising consultants. You will also be allocated a Clinical Supervisor who will help identify career progression opportunities. The post holder will contribute to an on-call rota and should therefore have previous neurosurgery registrar experience (or equivalent), have full MRCS and have experience working within the NHS. The post holder will support various aspects of this busy service, with a commitment to the out of hours rota. The daytime role will include cover of the neurosurgical wards, clinics, pre-admissions and theatres. These duties are allocated on a weekly basis. About us The post holder will be expected to; Provide inpatient and outpatient services (theatres and clinics) under consultant supervision Contribute to the emergency out of hours rota Supervise daily ward rounds Conduct patient management in line with plans agreed with the Consultants Support and teach junior colleagues effectively Participate in M&M and MDT meetings Contribute to Quality & Improvement Projects within the department Attend departmental meetings Working for your organisation Nottingham neurosurgery unit caters to around 3 million people within the East Midlands and beyond.
