By working closely with clinical teams and integrating research into clinical pathways, the opportunities for both research and our team are expanding. We currently have a vacancy within the Clinical Research Facility for a Band 7 Senior Research Sister/Charge Nurse in the respiratory team. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee the management of the respiratory research team to ensure optimal delivery of studies in the respiratory portfolio. The post holder will provide professional, operational, and clinical leadership and management of research staff and members of the multi-disciplinary team acting as a role model, providing specialist clinical and research advice with responsibility for clinical service, delivery staff and research governance issues. About us You will provide oversight and support to Research Nurses/Midwives, AHPs, Clinical Research Practitioners and Clinical Trial Assistants for new and ongoing, respiratory research studies translating scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study feasibility and start-up to delivery and close out of a study. You will utilise your clinical skills and research expertise through set-up and delivery. You will join our current team of Senior Research Sisters/Charge Nurses/AHPs who are committed to driving forward the research strategy here at UHS for the benefit of respiratory patients and their families. This is an exciting and rewarding role for a nurse with respiratory or research experience. This role combines team management with the opportunity to deliver cutting-edge research, working in partnership with patients to improve health and access to novel treatments. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility and drive will be required to ensure the continued success of the respiratory research team. You will need excellent project management skills and you must be able to trouble-shoot and problem-solve to keep challenging studies on track. Excellent communication skills are required to provide guidance and support to the team whilst liaising with the wider team and Investigators across the department. The ability to communicate with staff and colleagues at all levels and disciplines in an engaging manner is essential. Good IT skills will be required. Respiratory Knowledge: A deep understanding of respiratory conditions such as asthma, COPD and interstitial lung disease and proficiency in performing respiratory procedures like spirometry and bronchoscopies would be advantageous. Leadership: Ability to lead, mentor, and supervise junior research nurses and other staff. This includes providing guidance on research best practices and fostering a supportive and educational environment. We welcome informal visits.
