What to expect

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your previous experience in administrative roles, particularly in a healthcare setting?
2. What motivates you to apply for this position in the Gastroenterology Department?
3. How do you handle stressful situations or demanding workloads, especially in a healthcare environment?
4. Can you describe your experience with administrative systems used for managing outpatient appointments? Which systems have you worked with?
5. What advanced IT skills do you possess, and how have you used them in previous roles?
6. How would you ensure the quality and integrity of patient information within an administrative system?
7. Explain your understanding of the Patient Access Policy and how it applies to this role.
8. How would you manage the scheduling and rescheduling of appointments, especially in the case of cancellations or missed appointments (DNAs)?
9. What steps would you take to confirm patient attendance prior to their appointment?
10. Can you give an example of how you have handled a situation where a clinic needed to be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice?
11. How do you ensure effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams and or the Hepatology Consultant and Nursing Team?
12. Describe a time when you had to liaise with other departments. How did you ensure that the communication was clear and efficient?
13. What strategies do you use to manage a busy email inbox, particularly when it contains a high volume of messages?
14. Give an example of a challenging problem you faced in an administrative role and how you resolved it.
15. This role requires cross-site working; how do you manage your time and responsibilities when working across different locations?
16. How would you approach a situation where there was a discrepancy in patient information or scheduling errors?
17. What measures would you implement to adhere to NHS targets in your administrative duties?
18. How do you stay current with NHS policies and procedures relevant to your role?
19. What do you believe are the key qualities for an effective Hepatology Administrator?
