What to expect

2. What motivates you to work in this sector, particularly with vulnerable individuals in the community?
3. How do you ensure that you uphold the dignity and independence of service users?
4. This role involves providing personal care. How do you approach this sensitive task while maintaining the service user’s dignity?
5. Can you describe a time when you had to report concerns about a service user's well-being? What steps did you take?
6. How would you handle accompanying a service user on a journey when they may be feeling anxious or reluctant?
7. What experience do you have with meal preparation and accommodating specific dietary needs?
8. How familiar are you with medication administration protocols, and what precautions would you take in this area?
9. Can you explain the importance of keeping accurate documentation in care work? How would you ensure it is maintained?
10. Describe an emergency situation you've encountered while providing care. How did you respond, and what was the outcome?
11. How would you handle a situation where a service user is resisting care or support?
12. Can you give an example of how you have worked as part of a team in a care setting? What role did you play?
13. How do you build rapport and trust with service users and their families?
14. The role requires ongoing training. What is your approach to professional development, and how do you stay informed about best practices in care?
15. As part of your role, you will need to secure registration with the SSSC. What do you know about this process and its importance?
16. Imagine you are scheduled for several visits in one day and a last-minute appointment comes in. How would you prioritise your tasks?
17. If you noticed that a service user was feeling isolated, what strategies would you employ to encourage social engagement?
18. What do you think are the key qualities a Home Support Worker should possess?
