Please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any time should it be filled via the internal redeployment process Job Overview We are looking for a highly motivated, appropriately skilled, reliable and enthusiastic maintenance assistant that is able to work well under pressure to carry out planned maintenance and day to day repairs within a hospital environment. The postholder will assist higher skilled trades when required and work as part of a team on co-ordinated projects. Main duties of the job To ensure the fabric of the hospital is maintained as a safe environment for patients, public and staff. To assist higher skilled grades when required as part of a team on co-ordinated projects on behalf of the Health Board. To provide and receive routine information to co-ordinate services and systems such as the help-line. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Qualifications And Or Knowledge Essential criteria Good standard of education to GSCE or equivalent Appropriate work experience Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and tools; gained through training and induction, part qualification or equivalent Desirable criteria Fork lift qualification Skills & Attributes Essential criteria Customer care awareness Able to contribute in a team environment Able to provide assistance during the undertaking of water safety risk assessments, audits, and developing action plans Desirable criteria Ability to undertake other duties within areas of competence Experience Essential criteria Experience of IT packages and applications, including Microsoft Office Desirable criteria Hospital experience in a works environment Other Essential criteria Self motivated Customer focused Ability to travel between sites Desirable criteria Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards
