Please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any time should it be filled via the internal redeployment process Job Overview An exciting opportunity to be part of an integrated multi-professional team providing community neuro rehabilitation to stroke, acquired brain injury (ABI), and other neurological patients. The post is based at the Park Road Wellbeing Centre, Pontypool. It involves supporting the development and implementation of a service for people diagnosed with Non Epileptic Attack Disorder. This will involve working closely with colleagues from the ABUHB Neurology Directorate and Health Psychology Service. The post holder will also contribute to the provision of assessment and rehabilitation service for patients recovering from stroke and acquired brain injury. Working within the ABUHB CNRS the post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes clinical psychologists, neuro-physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, speech and language therapy, and rehabilitation assistants. The post holder will be expected to undertake face to face work with individuals, groups, significant others, and families, as well as consultation work advising staff of other disciplines on the psychological aspects of casework and patient management plans. They will also be expected to provide specialist advice, teaching, and training about psychological work to less experienced psychologists, counsellors, assistants, trainees, other professionals, and carers. Main duties of the job To provide psychological services to adults with neurological conditions in ABUHB in agreement with the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service Lead(s). This includes face to face work with individuals, groups, families, significant others, and consultation work advising staff of other disciplines on the psychological aspects of casework and patient management plans. It involves conducting psychological assessments and the delivery of appropriate therapeutic interventions for the full range of referred difficulties accepted by the service. To provide specialist advice, teaching, training, and supervision of psychological work to assistant psychologists, trainees, other professionals, and carers. To conduct, to develop and evaluate specialised programmes of care / care packages, and propose changes for policy / service development. To participate in relevant research/ audit groups, as required by ABUHB Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service. To support the provision of a specialist area of the service, and contribute to the development of new psychological services and participate in service planning and development, in agreement with the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service Lead(s). To participate fully, in the professional activities of the Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service and the ABUHB Psychology Service. Qualifications And/or Knowledge Essential criteria Professional knowledge acquired through degree, postgraduate doctoral degree supplemented by short specialist courses, clinical supervision:- Honours degree in Psychology, giving eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS Registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) as a qualified Clinical Psychologist. Experience of participating in regular clinical supervision Possess a working knowledge of strategies, policies and procedures relevant to working with people with long term health and neurological conditions. To be aware of race and cultural issues in professional practice. Knowledge of research design and methodology. Has a good grasp of the main Professional Issues effecting Clinical Psychology in the NHS Desirable criteria Further training in neuropsychological assessment and/or specialist knowledge of neuropsychological rehabilitation.
