Band 8a Lead Nurse Cancer Immunotherapy with Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in London
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who is experienced in looking after and supporting patients receiving immunotherapy treatment for cancer to provide maternity cover for 12 months. We have an established but rapidly growing service we provide to patients receiving immunotherapy regimens for all cancers, at the Royal Free Hospital sites, which includes an immunotherapy toxicity MDT, on treatment and toxicity clinics. The post holder would work with the lead consultant, sometimes with external parties to further the late effects service, contribute to the planning of network education events and work collaboratively with the acute oncology team to establish and improve ambulatory pathways The post holder will be required to work with clinical, operational, information and administrative staff across all levels of seniority within the acute Trust. The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. The Lead Nurse for Cancer Immunotherapy will support and develop the rapidly growing service we provide to patients receiving immunotherapy regimens for all cancers, at the Royal Free Hospital sites, which will include provision of nurse led immunotherapy and associated toxicity clinics. The post will incorporate the dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research. About us The post holder will: provide support for patients receiving immunotherapy treatment manage patients on treatment within nurse-led prescribing clinics provide pan-tumour IO toxicity clinics with support from a wider multidisciplinary team liase with endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology, rheumatology, hepatology, dermatology, neurology and respiratory teams to manage toxicity associated with treatment using existing pathways Ensure the effective running of the immunotherapy toxicity MDT and contribute to network meetings to provide strategic direction for nurses delivering cancer immunotherapy across the Trust. collaborate with the Consultant Nurse SACT Clinical Lead for Immunotherapy Oncology, identify and interpret (at local level) the priorities for delivery of immunotherapy, co-ordinating service development and implementation across the Trust. be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating nurse-led clinics and services. review and support the patient pre-immunotherapy information & education sessions across sites Maintain existing and be responsible for new written patient information in this area liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries. work autonomously to deliver specialist clinical care appropriate to the needs of the patient group and based on principles that are research based and enhance the quality of patient care. lead and support with specialist nursing knowledge the development, and implementation of programmes of nursing care for individual patients and the client group as a whole. contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated groups of patients receiving cancer immunotherapy provide training and education within specialist area to nurses, doctors across departments as required Contribute to the writing of clinical guidelines and service improvement which reflects changes in best practice in this field promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in research activities. to scope any unmet needs for this group of patients. to act as a visible role model and expert practitioner.
