Prison Mental Health Nurse - Development Post with Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust in Hull
Are you registered Mental Health Nurse OR Learning Disability Nurse with 18 months post qualifying experience? Have you thought about working within prison mental health services? Want to deliver community mental health services within the prison environment? This is an excellent opportunity for mental health and learning disability nurses to join a team working in a rewarding environment where you will get to develop a full range of psychiatric skills and interventions. This vacancy is open to Band 5 Registered Nurses with a minimum of 18 months post qualification experience and successful completion of preceptorship. This is a developmental post with progression to a Band 6 upon meeting the criteria within the Band 6 job description and competency framework specific to Health & Justice Services. HMP Hull is Local Category B prison and we are looking for additional nurses to provide mental health care to patients. This role will be responsible for assessment and caseload management of those referred into Mental health services working as part of a stepped care model. You will completing comprehensive assessments, communicating treatment options and initiating supportive care plans, and providing evidence-based interventions alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will work with internal and external partners, including partner healthcare providers, prison colleagues, social care providers, probation services. You will be a Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse. You'll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service. You will have experience providing compassionate mental health care and have an understanding of the criminal justice system. You will make on going assessment of need reflecting individual circumstances and provide relevant interventions and input to discharge planning. You will be required to have strong coordination and planning skills, with the ability to make decisions based on comprehensive health and risk assessments. You should be innovative, flexible and able to engage with patients with complex needs. You will be committed to a person-centred approach and have the ability to prioritise. We are looking for clinicians who will thrive working in a busy environment amongst a wider well resourced team of multidisciplinary professionals, as well as alongside partner providers from a variety of internal and external services.
