Consultant Haemato-Oncologist with East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in Canterbury
The Trust faced a number of challenges in the delivery of cancer access standards. The creation of a Cancer Services Care Group with a dedicated leadership team has enabled the Trust to focus on ensuring it not only achieves these standards, but develops a strategy to enable it to deliver excellent services to the populations it serves. This approach has already led to significant improvement in achievement of the cancer standards over the past year. The care group continues to develop its strategies to ensure this progress continues into the future. The Haematology department provides a comprehensive clinical and laboratory service for patients across East Kent. Inpatients for haematology and haemophilia are centralised at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Nineteen subspecialised outpatient clinics are held per week and delivered on all four sites. This post is a full time (10 PA) role, a job share will be welcomed Provide inpatient and outpatient care as appropriate. Undertaking 3 haemato-oncology clinics per week, at Kent and Canterbury hospital and Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother hospital at Margate. In addition, there is a 1 in 6 attendance for Lymphadenopathy cause clinic. Attending weekly multidisciplinary team ward rounds as well as participating in a 1 in 6 ward attending rota and on call rota. There are separate on call rotas for Haem-oncology/general and coagulation teams. There is a full middle grade on call rota in addition to whom we provide support. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care Provide clinical interpretation of haematological laboratory tests and provide advice to clinical colleagues Conduct clinical practice in accordance with the highest ethical and clinical governance standards Provide support to other clinical specialities Participation in clinical audit and other departmental clinical governance activities, and activities to support appraisal and revalidation Regularly attending multidisciplinary team and clinical governance meetings The post-holder may be required to undertake other duties appropriate for a consultant haematologist not otherwise specified About us Please review the Supporting Documents section to access the full Job Description and Person Specification.
