Nurse Specialist - Pleural & EBUS Practitioner with St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Tooting
The post holder will provide a liaison and advisory role as part of a multi-disciplinary team working closely within the division of Medicine, but also demonstrate the skills required to work autonomously. The role will involve the management of a client caseload, offering advice and organisation of follow up to patients with pleural disease and participating in delivery of the endobronchial ultrasound service (EBUS). This will require good communication with the patient and community services and department. The post holder will also provide education to nursing, medical and allied professionals to improve the management of patients with respiratory disease. We offer in house and external teaching with structured supervision to support individual professional development and learning opportunities. The team of respiratory nurse's work together to provide care within the hospital inpatient and outpatient service. The service runs across 5 days. To work alongside of Pleural lead Nurse and Pleural consultant and assist with pleural procedures. Act as resource for pleural catheter management and training. To work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering the EBUS service. This role ranges from the triaging and identifying patients suitable for the procedure through to participating in the procedure assisting the consultant. Participation in monitoring the pleural and EBUS service through data collection and audit of best practice. Storing, checking and administering drugs in accordance with Trust policy. To prioritise own work and to ensure the respiratory service is managed. The Respiratory Department offers a full range of general and specialist outpatient's clinics both on site at St George's NHS Trust, Tooting and at sister sites including Queen Mary Hospital, Roehampton, The emphasis is very much on accurate diagnosis, planning and stabling care for patients with both acute and chronic respiratory diseases, utilising a multidisciplinary approach.
