Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking a Band 6 Senior Occupational therapist to join our highly skilled Therapy Team specialising in the treatment of Neurosurgical and Major Trauma patients admitted to the neurosurgery unit at Hull Royal Infirmary. We require a self-motivated, dynamic clinician who are stimulated by challenge and are looking for the opportunity to improve their skills at a senior level. It is expected that you will have had comprehensive post graduate experience working in the areas of neurosurgery/ neuro- rehabilitation, which ideally would include acute NHS experience. The post holder will gain enhanced experience, knowledge and skills in acute Major Trauma and Neurosurgery care. Management of Poly -trauma patients including rehabilitation, regional care pathways and discharge. There will be internal and external opportunities to for advanced skills training. The Occupational Therapists work as part of as an Integrated Therapy team, ward MDT and wider MDT to deliver highly skilled assessment, interventions, discharge planning, and signposting to various services across the region. You will gain experience of working in a large busy acute teaching hospitals which has defined links with Hull University and is itself a Major Trauma Centre. The post holders will work alongside colleagues to support the assessment or need across a range of clinical conditions which present within acute care with varying degrees of complexity. Frequently seen cases are primary Brain tumours, Subarachnoid Haemorrhage, acute spinal injuries, Acute head injuries, and Poly- trauma patients. As an occupational therapy you will have direct input into the assessment and treatment of patients, delivering evidence based interventions to facilitate recovery, promote well being and optimise independent functioning as far as reasonably possible in all areas of life. The nature of the role requires proficient assessment of cognition and performance using both standardised and non- standardised assessment. We are seeking applicants who can adapt quickly to changing work environments and work well within a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and build networks to enable appropriate partnerships with other agencies involved in patient care to both identify and address immediate and ongoing needs.
