Community Paediatric Dietitian with Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust in Luton

This is a progressive Band 5 to Band 6 role open also to newly qualified Dietitians with an interest in Paediatrics. As a Band 5 Dietitian, you will work for up to 12 months to develop and achieve competencies to become a Band 6 Dietitian. However, this post could commence at Band 6 if the candidate has sufficient experience in dietetics. Job descriptions for both Band 5 & Band 6 are attached to this vacancy. You will work within our friendly Paediatric team delivering both virtual and face to face clinics to a varied caseload and deliver group sessions to families. The role includes training to other health care professionals, covering subjects such as cow's milk allergy and feeding difficulties. In addition, you will also be involved in supporting the Food First team on the appropriate prescribing of Paediatric nutritional products. Previous Paediatric experience is desirable but not essential, we may consider a candidate who can demonstrate a willingness to build on existing dietetic skills. The successful candidate would be joining an experienced Paediatric team who would provide regular clinical supervision. About us Main Responsibilities To support delivery of clinically and cost-effective care and support primary care with the appropriate prescribing of nutritional products. To represent the team and department at exhibitions, events, and local meetings. To be involved in undertaking development work within the Team, this could include clinical audits, service improvement, resource development, newsletters, and updates to social media/websites. To contribute to the training of student Dietitians. To ensure work is in line with departmental, trust and national dietetic standards. To understand any other Band 5 Dietetic duties identified by the team or Team Lead. Communication To establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff. Positive relationships are characterised by open communication, trust, and respect. To use a range of different communication skills; including motivational interviewing, counselling skills, negotiating skills and cognitive behavioural therapy to help service users and professionals to achieve their nutritional goals/standards, considering any barriers to change that may exist. To communicate effectively with service users and carers to ensure understanding of condition and treatment plans. To liaise with a range of professionals such as; 0-19 teams, community nursing, GPs and other health and social care professionals concerning the assessment and advice provided to paediatric patients in the community setting. To contribute as required to the multidisciplinary team via uni-professional and multi-professional education sessions and meetings, clear written communication, and joint assessments (if appropriate). To advise primary, community and acute colleagues on the appropriate prescribing, follow up and monitoring of ACBS approved nutritional supplements, based on available evidence including assessment of individual clinical needs. To be involved in the on-going development and delivery of group education sessions for children and their families. To attend department meetings and team meetings. People Management Maintaining own professional development and requirement to take part in appraisal and KSF process. Clinical and Practice Governance Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed, or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes. The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures. It is a condition of your employment that you are currently registered with HCPC, and it is your responsibility to maintain your professional registration. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required. Participate in Clinical & Safeguarding supervision on a regular basis. The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team.
