Southampton North Primary Care Network Team Lead Dietitian with University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust in Southampton
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. Please see below for detailed job description of the role. We are looking to recruit a band 7 team lead dietitian to lead the PCN dietetic service in Southampton North PCN. This PCN has a well established dietetic service and the dietitians are vey well integrated within the GP practices. You will be a member of the large community dietetic team which is based at The Royal South Hants hospital in central Southampton. This team has dietitians working in a range of specialities who meet regularly for support and CPD. You will be developing and delivering the dietetic service to the Southampton North PCN. You will be expected to pick up a general dietetic caseload with a focus on weight management but the referrals could cover any condition. The PCN is based in Southampton university and many of the referrals are for support with disordered eating, weight management and gastrointestinal conditions. The post holder will also provide line management and day to day support and supervision to the band 6 PCN dietitians working in the North Southampton PCN. Current postholders love the variety of the role and the ability to deliver holistic care. The job satisfaction is great as you really get to know your patients and they value your input. The role is very flexible and you will work with great autonomy but have the support of a wide range of specialist dietitians. About us WHAT YOULL DO You will be a key member of Primary Care team and liaise with other health care professionals and support staff about all aspects of dietetic and nutritional management line manage other dietitians working in the Southampton North PCN support and clinically supervise other junior dietitians and participate in student training participate in service development and evaluation and feedback audit data to the dietetic department and PCN leads hold a dedicated clinical caseload support health promotion activities on diet and health within the local area deliver group education sessions and training sessions to health and social care professionals as required. Some of these may be run virtually WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a dietitian who: has recent extensive experience in managing a general, varied dietetic caseload ideally in Primary care has experience of service development and report writing has experience of supervision and line management has the skills and knowledge to deliver group and individual dietary education both in person and using virtual methods is confident in communicating in a variety of settings and with people from all backgrounds can work as a team player and is able to prioritise their own work in order to meet deadlines and has a focused professional approach Our service operates during core hours, Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will need to work outside of core hours on occasions e.g. to deliver group education but this would be with prior notice. The successful applicant will be based at the Royal South Hants hospital but they will work regularly in all the PCN GP practices and also from home. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and are willing to consider flexible working arrangements, including part time hours. You will be expected to participate in audit and lead on service development and report writing. The postholder will tailor the service to the needs of the local population and will be in a great position to develop the service.
