Senior Mental Health Practitioner CAMHS Intensive Treatment Team with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust in Taunton, Somerset
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the CAMHS Intensive Treatment Team. Our ITT service offers a range of therapeutic interventions to support young people and their families requiring more intensive input into their care and treatment plan. The team work across the county and build working relationships with key workers and other professionals from mental health services, education and social care. We place an emphasis on multi agency working, linking closely with the core CAMHS team to bring together a young persons existing network, to provide support and give opportunities to share any risk related concerns. The team currently offer both parent and young people's groups, there is a need for some flexible working to cover evenings to support the running of the groups. The team currently works flexible hours, mostly covering a 9-5pm rota, in the future there may be a need to cover weekend/bank holiday shifts. We are loo king for someone with a recognised professional qualification in Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy. You must have a knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders in children and young people, as well as a good understanding of how to work towards change therapeutically. This role will be working flexibly within the community to support young people when they are most at need. The role is varied with a mix of individual therapeutic work, group interventions, supporting families and daily linking with the team. Responsibilities will include: assessing and evaluating the intensive treatment given. You will be able to provide advice and practical support to young people and their families as well as therapeutic interventions. The team currently offer a range of groups to both parents/carers and young people, you will be required to support the offering of these groups. Some groups run outside of typical working hours and will require occasional extended hours/evening work. The team routinely work to offer intensive treatment to children and young people within the community, we cover across the county of Somerset, making travel an essential part of the role. You will be responsible for building key working relationships with both internal and external parties including families, local authorities and the Operational Service Manager. About us Key Relationships Intensive Treatment Team Manager/Operational Manager All team members within CAMHS ITT Professionals within the locality Tier 3 CAMHS teams, Children's Social Care, Education, integrated therapy services, district general hospitals, Psychiatric Liaison Nurses, Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People (CEDS-CYP) and psychiatric inpatient units. Children, young people and their families / carers. Education environments including schools and colleges. Social Care Directorate. Local Authority staff providing services for young people. Voluntary organisations offering services for young people Main Duties To undertake a range of procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practice. To undertake training to be able to deliver brief interventions for a range of mental health difficulties to children and young people. To ensure that all appropriate assessments, plans and interventions are formulated within established, evidence-based systems and methods. To identify and discuss a range of health and social care needs with service users, carers and other professionals. To develop and co-ordinate specialised packages of care and intervention, underpinned by the principles of the Recovery Care Programme Approach (RCPA). To identify realistic and measurable goals /targets utilising evidence based approaches. To provide support and advice to service users, carers, colleagues and other professionals. To provide other healthcare professionals with specialised advice regarding mental health issues. To evaluate and reflect upon the quality of care given and the goals achieved. Be responsible for maintaining and influencing professional standards in relation to government policy, frameworks and Trust directives.
