Consultant Neonatologist with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in Cardiff
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neonatologist post within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The Neonatal Unit in Cardiff is a level III tertiary neonatal unit, providing intensive care, high dependency and special care services for the local population of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, as well as a tertiary service for South Wales. It is the only unit in Wales to provide neonatal surgery and fetal medicine services, with approximately a quarter of its admissions coming from other units in Wales. Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £106,000 per annum to £154,760 per annum. Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee. The successful candidate will be expanding our existing team of 12.5 whole time equivalent Consultant Neonatologists and comes at an exciting time in the development of our neonatal services following the opening of our new unit in 2019. This is currently funded for 32 cots (8 intensive care, 12 high dependency, 12 special care cots), although facilities and infrastructure are available to allow increase of up to 50 cots in the next years. Additionally, the CHANTS neonatal transfer team operates from UHW every 3 weeks and is expanding to 24/7 cover. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services. Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements. Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
