We provide consultant led medical rehabilitation for patients with complex needs who may have sustained multiple injuries; this includes neurological injury and complex trauma. Additional rehabilitation services within DMRC include Spinal and upper quadrant rehab, Lower Limb rehab and Specialist Rehabilitation. The Occupational Therapy Service is staffed by qualified Occupational Therapists (OT) and support staff to provide a highly specialist clinical service to military personnel. We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist Specialist who will be working within our Neurology department here at DMRC Stanford Hall. Our chosen candidate will deliver Occupational Therapy to service personnel with complex clinical needs within the Neurology Rehabilitation service (supporting both inpatient and outpatient services). This includes the exciting opportunity to rotate between delivering bespoke Neuro Rehab and specialist Vocational OT with the Neurological OT rehab team. The post holder will work autonomously and be accountable for own professional actions and of those staff who they line manage. To also provide full support to the Band 7 OTs, Team Manager and OT Professional Lead Advisor in the provision of a comprehensive, evidence based and professional OT service within clinical area. About us The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Assessing complex patients with a range of neurological diagnoses, implementing appropriate specialist rehabilitation programmes underpinned by sound theory and evidence-based practice. Maintaining up to date, accurate patient records in line with professional practice guidelines and produce specialist reports where appropriate. Supporting the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in the interpretation of assessment results and recommendations based on clinical need as part of the larger rehabilitation process. Using your skills at assessing and interpreting a range of complex factors relating to the patients condition which will impact on their ability to carry out their activities of daily living including their ability to return to work. Being a highly effective communicator demonstrating skills in empathy, reassurance and the ability to motivate others. Carrying out environmental assessment such as home and/or workplace visits where appropriate. This may involve working alone away from main place of employment, making complex clinical decisions and writing specialist reports for IDT, line managers and other Military of Defence (MOD) and external agencies.
