The Wood Green NHS Community Diagnostic Centre (WG CDC) is part of a growing number of community diagnostic centres closely linked with the Whittington Health NHS Trust. We are looking for a dynamic, committed and motivated radiographers who are proficient and skilled at CT and/or MRI. As a Band 7 Radiographer you will be expected to manage the work area, providing professional clinical advice and support to Radiographers, students and Radiographic Assistants under your supervision. The post holder is responsible for assisting the management of the radiology services across the Trust as well as developing quality Radiology services that are efficient, responsive and meet the requirements of the organisation and the wider community. The post holder will also be encouraged to take on line management responsibilities in relation to rostering, appraisals, performance, training and sickness absence. Acquisition of CT & MRI examinations in line with IR(ME)R and IRR regulations Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all patients Work harmoniously with colleagues of all professions to enhance the working environment of the CDC Contribute towards the development of the CDC Training of staff and students Take part in MDTs Actively engage in the development of services across the NCL sector as appropriate About us CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES To assess the clinical justification of Radiography referrals in line with both national regulations (IRMER 2017) and local protocols. To act as an Operator under IRMER (2017). To act with delegated authority as Practitioner under IRMER (2017) for plain film radiography referrals. To liaise with referral sources where clarification is required regarding selection of the most clinically appropriate imaging examination. To act as a point of advice for imaging referrers. To communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their escorts prior to, during, and after an examination, especially in difficult or emotional circumstances, using both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. To ensure patients receive a high standard of care across all modalities To acquire diagnostic images, and physically position the full range of patient presentations, accurately for examinations, taking into account patient limitations and adapting standard techniques where necessary. To match clinical indications presented by the referrer to an appropriate departmental protocol in x-ray, CT and MRI Scanning. To operate advanced software on specialist radiological equipment, requiring excellent hand-eye co-ordination, e.g. bolus chasing, image reformatting and dynamic imaging. To review images and ensure that supplementary imaging procedures are considered prior to patient departure from the department. To be able to offer good clinical judgement when assessing and interpreting images produced by themselves or more junior staff To ensure that images are presented for reporting purposes in a timely and accurate manner. To ensure that urgent findings are communicated and patients directed accordingly. To highlight radiographic abnormalities using the appropriate system of work in place, e.g. the Red Dot system. To review and comment on continuing appropriateness of imaging protocols. To work unsupervised within the service arrangements. To work within the departments shift system. To participate in patient monitoring or administration of oxygen, under supervision. To ascertain from the patient, patients guardian or the referrer, the patients suitability for receipt of intravenous (IV) contrast media. To perform intravenous cannulation and manual injection of contrast agent. To administer IV contrast media using a pressure injector. If required, to gain competency in recognising anaphylaxis and administering Adrenaline and operate within Trust and Departmental policy. To undertake other duties as and when required by the demands of the service or the CT/MRI Lead or the Operational Service Manager.
