Respiratory Nurse Specialist with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust in Poplar Grove
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the existing Respiratory Nursing team at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to recruit a Band 7 nurse with a keen interest in Respiratory Medicine. The main focus of the role will be working within the Respiratory Nursing team and management of the junior staff members alongside the Respiratory Nurse Practitioner. A crossover to the the established CURE team and the delivery of the CURE project - Tobacco addiction within the Trust will also be expected. The Respiratory Nursing team within Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is a small but welcoming and knowledgeable team who have to be adaptable to the varied workload. Within the team we always uphold the trust values of we care, we respect and we listen. This role is a 12 month secondment / fixed term contract at 37.5 hours to cover maternity leave. The post holder has a key leadership and specialist role at a senior level to support the organisation in the delivery of care for respiratory patients and their families. This will be in accordance with the philosophy and standards of care within the specialty, ensuring that Trust values and beliefs are upheld. This role will look to suit a motivated, enthusiastic individual, the ideal candidate must demonstrate their ability to work under pressure, be adaptable to change and thrive in an environment with a varied workload. The successful candidate must have recent experience at working within the Respiratory Nurse speciality at band 6 with extensive knowledge to help deliver excellence evidence based care to our patients. Please see the attached job description for the essential criteria. At present, the service provides cover form Monday to Friday. Flexible working hours are negotiable. About us Provide a professional specialist clinical support to medical and nursing staff in relation to respiratory patients for inpatients on the wards and out patients within the Chest Clinic setting. Provide leadership that promotes patient focused care. Provide clinical leadership and line management of staff, ensuring the delivery of the highest professional standards through staff development and individual performanceappraisal/review. Assessing respiratory patients within the inpatient setting, history taking, clinical diagnostic procedures performed or requested as appropriate eg, Mantoux testing, ABGs, Chest x-rays and sputum tests. To aid and make clinical decisions utilising expert knowledge and clinical reasoning. The interpretation of ABGs and application to practice to enable knowledge base to perform oxygen assessments. Review respiratory patients prior to discharge as requested. Provide a comprehensive and appropriate plan for the short and long term management of the respiratory patient. Lead the management of the Tuberculosis service within the Stockport area. Assess, support and manage the individual with tuberculosis and their families. Management of notifications, contact tracing and the Tuberculosis database. Present Tuberculosis audit findings at Northwest TB Cohort to promote best practice and to act as a representative of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. Provide expert nursing advice and support to other Health Care Professionals (HCP). Develop and deliver nurse lead clinic in Tuberculosis, Nebulisers and Asthma. Support the CURE team in the development and roll out of the trust smoking cessation project. Identifying training needs within the team and delivering education and training as required. To provide mentoring, advice and support to more junior specialist nurses. To demonstrate knowledge of, and adhere to professional, clinical, national and local guidelines. If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £45.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
