Experienced Clinical Coding Analyst with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London
King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has a full- time vacancy for a Band 5 Experienced Clinical Coder at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill. Experienced coders play a pivotal role in the coding department, working within a small team of coders to meet deadlines, reporting back to the Clinical Coding Manager and contacting both clinical and non-clinical staff in the Trust each month to ensure high Data Quality. The right candidate will have good interpersonal skills, a comprehensive knowledge of clinical coding rules and conventions, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and be able to meet strict monthly Trust deadlines. The ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, nursing staff and other health professionals is essential to this role as we move forward with clinical validation of coding and engagement. The successful candidate must have completed their Clinical Coding Standards Course, and have significant experience coding in an NHS inpatient setting. You will have access to training courses and workshops which are delivered by our in house Clinical Coding Training Team, and support to further your career in clinical coding. In addition, King's have introduced the option of remote working on a part time basis, with up to 3 weeks in 4 being workable remotely. About us As an experienced Clinical Coding Analyst, the role is to code on a daily basis, provide timely and accurate coding through effective data extraction, by analysing complex clinical information; and applying independent judgment in the interpretation, transposition and sequencing of clinical data adhering to national rules and conventions of ICD-10 & OPCS-4.9, entering on the Trusts PAS, ensuring SUS freeze and flex deadlines are met. Work well within a team supported by the Clinical Coding Managers.Liaise with the Clinical Coding Managers to confirm appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes where national guidance is unclear.Promote awareness and understanding of the clinical coding process and identify service improvements.Communicate and liaise effectively with clinicians, nursing staff, other professionals and departments, both internal and external, concerning routine or complex issues /anomalies across all specialties whilst maintaining good relationships.Demonstrate understanding of the importance of Data Quality, Data Protection, PBR and HRGs.
