General Practice Phlebotomist with School Lane Surgery in Thetford, Norfolk
At School Lane Surgery we are a vibrant and supportive practice seeking an enthusiastic Phlebotomist to join our dynamic healthcare family. As part of our busy and friendly team, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will hold a phlebotomy/Venepuncture qualification and have some experience within this field. You will need good manual dexterity, the ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to work independently. The job is 15 hours per week, worked over three mornings. Working days can be negotiated. £11.50 per hour, 5 weeks' annual leave plus Bank Holiday allowance NHS Pension Uniform provided Closing Date: 20/12/2024. As a phlebotomist, you will be taking blood samples based at the Healthy Living Centre, via a rota appointment system, from patients who are currently registered with School Lane Surgery and outpatient patients seen at the Healthy Living Centre on the day. About us Clinical and Technical: Collecting, using venepuncture procedures, blood samples using both vacutainer or needle and syringe Monitoring and maintaining the health, safety and security of self and patients during the venepuncture procedure. Practising within risk management Collecting samples from patients in high-risk categories and being aware of potential hazards. Following agreed protocol to minimise risk to self and others Awareness of the clinical conditions and precautions that are necessary for sample quality to be maintained during the venepuncture procedure. This includes site selection, correct use of tourniquet and selection of blood sample bottles Proficiency in performing venepuncture to meet the required standard Documenting patients notes on the clinical system, SystmOne
