Diabetes Specialist Dietitian with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Orpington
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced diabetes dietitian to join our team at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington Hospital, part of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The dietetic service provided by this position is part of the growing diabetes service within the Trust, covering both inpatients and innovative outpatient clinics The post holder will provide comprehensive clinical support and dietetic advice to patients with diabetes. The post holder will work within a diabetes multidisciplinary team including doctors, specialist nurses, podiatrists and pharmacists to provide high standard of care for inpatients, both newly diagnosed or with existing diabetes. They will also provide support for patients with diabetes on enteral and parenteral feeding. In the outpatient setting, the post holder will review patients to provide newly diagnosed diabetes education, help with diabetes optimisation pre-operatively and prior to undergoing cancer treatment/investigations. The post holder will also provide outpatient and group education cover for the antenatal diabetes dietitian. The post holder will have extensive diabetes specialist dietetic experience, ideally with knowledge of DAFNE principles and experience with managing diabetes technology including insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring. Excellent communication, organisation and team working skills are essential. About us Clinical Responsibilities1. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of work in compliance with the ethical code of practice set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).2. To work with the dietetic and multidisciplinary diabetes teams to formulate and deliver individual diabetes dietetic and education treatment plans for patients based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment,critical thinking, reasoning skills and knowledge of a wide range of dietetic treatments.3. To act as an expert resource involved in the development and provision of evidence based dietetic diabetes nutrition services.4. To provide high quality specialist clinical advice and educational support to others involved in providing care for people with diabetes in the local community.
