They will assist in the co-ordination of care given to ensure consistency of high care leading to a high quality seamless service. The post holder will be expected to work clinically providing care to these ladies where appropriate from diagnosis of poor outcome through the intrapartum and postnatal pathway including co-ordinating and attending follow-up clinics. To deliver educational training programmes meeting the needs of multidisciplinary staff and students in relation to bereavement issues. The bereavement support midwife, as a clinical specialist will assist the Bereavement Midwife to provide support to women and their families who have experienced fetal loss or the death of a baby within the maternity setting. This will commence in the antenatal period and continue once the woman has gone home. They will provide guidance and support to midwifery and medical staff when caring for women experiencing loss in pregnancy, stillbirth or early neonatal death.
