Practice Nurse with Dalston Practice in London
The Dalston Practice | East London Practice Nurse We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and experienced practice nurse or nurse practitioner to join our clinical team and work with us in a friendly, well-established practice. The practice is flexible with working hours and both full time and part time applicants are welcome to apply. Previous NHS general practice nursing experience is essential. Good working knowledge and proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications essential. EMIS Web knowledge desirable. Hours The successful applicant will need to work between 10 to 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Salary and benefits £42,000 - £52,000 full time equivalent, depending upon experience Potential for performance based bonuses Five weeks holiday plus bank and public holidays NHS Pensions You will work as part of the practices clinical team and be responsible for delivering a high standard of nursing care to patients. You will have excellent clinical skills, ideally with experience across most aspects of nursing in general practice or a willingness to expand your knowledge and skills, including: - Chronic disease management (LTCs) - Cervical screening and womens health - Childhood immunisations - Travel immunisations - Wound care - Phlebotomy - Spirometry - Ear irrigation - Family planning - New patient health checks and NHS health checks For further details, please refer to the job description section. The practice supports professional development and training, and if there are areas in which an applicant does not have training, this can be facilitated. About us Clinical responsibilities: Implement health promotion and wellbeing programmes Develop and implement individual care plans for chronic disease patients Manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, providing advice to promote the patients health Provide wound care Run specialist clinics such as ear syringing, contraception etc. Collect specimens for pathology Provide travel advice and vaccinations Request pathology as necessary Process and interpret limited test results as required (e.g. cervical cytology results) Provide LTC clinics and refer patients to secondary care as required Maintain accurate contemporaneous clinical records in line with current regulations Ensure data is coded appropriately Implement an effective call/recall system Implement an effective immunisation programme in line with the national schedule Chaperone patients as necessary Support the clinical team in dealing with clinical emergencies Contribute to practice targets (QOF, local targets, etc.), complying with guidance as necessary Liaise with external services and agencies to ensure vulnerable patients are supported (safeguarding) Supplementary responsibilities: Provide nursing expertise and guidance as necessary Act as the infection prevention and control lead for the practice, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, undertaking periodic audits as necessary Monitor and ensure the safe storage, stock rotation and disposal of emergency drugs and vaccines Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation Support and participate in the practices significant event reviews and processes For further details, please refer to the attached job description (under Supporting Documents).
