An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton Trust to undertake a level 6 apprenticeship in Therapeutic Radiography. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team treating patients with cancer using radiation in an innovative and ever developing field of healthcare. Southampton's Radiotherapy department is newly equipped with state-of-the-art treatment Linacs and we are the first centre in the UK to have Exactrac Dynamic in clinical use on 3 of our 7 Linacs providing sub-millimetre correction. About us This exciting role provides candidates with the opportunity to earn whilst you learn, gets hand on clinical practice as well as theory-based learning through Sheffield Hallam University.The apprenticeship runs over 3 years, based in University Hospital Southamptons Radiotherapy department, and comprises of: On the job training based within our pioneering radiotherapy department Off the job training - following an integrated timetable with Sheffield Hallam University. The University course commences in March 2024; attendance will be mostly through distance learning although you will be expected to attend a few days on site at the University. Completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in Therapeutic Radiography, approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Entry requirementsThe entry requirements ensure the apprenticeship is accessible to a diverse range of applicants while maintaining appropriate standards.Applicants must: have the right to abode in the UK meet the course entry requirementsGCSE (or equivalent)Maths and English at level 2 or above (grade 4, or previously C).If you don't have this yet, Sheffield Hallam University will refer you to their functional skills training partner where you'll need to complete the relevant qualifications during the first year of your apprenticeship.If English is not your first language, you will also need an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or equivalent. If your level of English language is below IELTS 6.5 we will recommend an appropriate pre-sessional English course which will allow you to achieve the required level of English.Additional qualificationsPlus the following: Evidence of successful formal study at Level 3 (A-level, international Baccalaureate diploma, level 3 national certificate, level 3 award, level 3 diploma, level 3 NVQ, T-LEVEL. A minimum of six months experience in a health and social care capacity, including any placements or work-based learning undertaken as part of a Level 3 qualification.If you do not have a minimum of six months experience working in a health and social care capacity, you should hold one of the following: 96 UCAS points from three A levels or equivalent qualifications such as BTEC Nationals, Cambridge Technicals, OCR Nationals and T Levels.
