Research Nurse / AHP with East Coast Community Healthcare CIC in Lowestoft, Suffolk
East Coast Community Healthcare CIC are seeking a Research Nurse / AHP to support the delivery of research within the community. This is a new role established in 2024 to enhance our small, dedicated, and passionate research team. The successful applicant will become an integral part of the Research and Development team, with a focus on supporting the clinical teams to deliver research activity within the organisation. This post would suit a Registered Nurse or AHP with an interest in clinical research. No direct experience of research is required. This varied role would suit someone who has a flexible approach to working, is diligent, able to use their own initiative, likes working with other clinical teams and is motivated to develop their understanding of clinical research delivery and associated regulation. There will be opportunities to promote research with clinical teams, patients and the general public. An interest in research and evidence based practice is essential, previous experience in research is not essential, support will be provided to the successful candidate to develop their knowledge and understanding of clinical research and the specific requirements of the post. There is flexibility available in how the 15 hours are worked. There will not be a requirement to work Friday, Weekends or Bank holidays. The post holder will be required to contribute to the development, assessment, and management of care pathways for participants in clinical trial activity, including the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients, collection and documentation of accurate data. The ability to manage a caseload of participants for data collection and follow up is essential. The successful candidate will contribute to the identification of prospective research studies and be involved in the assessment of capacity and capability to deliver the study, study set up, data management and research delivery at sites across ECCH, so must be willing to travel as needed, and will be expected to work closely with research active clinicians and research participants. Effective communication skills are crucial, as the post holder will be working with a broad professional and participant group. Engagement with colleagues, participants, and volunteers to promote research will be expected, with a focus on identifying barriers to research within the community. Collaboration with our research delivery partners, to develop and maintain working relationships. The post holder will be working independently so must manage their own workload, possessing the necessary time management and organisational skills to work effectively and efficiently. About us To collaborate closely with the members of the research team in ensuring data and documentation relating to research activity is accurate, current, and secure. Work with the team to prepare for audit, monitoring or site inspection visits. To consult with the research assistant regarding administration tasks related to research activity, and to assist with the day-to-day administration of research activity as required. E.g., ensuring study trackers are current, participants are registered on EDGE system and monitoring the Research email inbox. Support the organisational processes required for the maintenance of site files and other study related documentation. Respond and manage data queries/results received from study teams. Dissemination of key information to peers, volunteers, patients and participants regarding research opportunity and activity, promoting research and raising awareness within the organisation. Escalate on-going study performance issues to Research Delivery Manager /Professional Clinical Lead. Attend relevant meetings and provide regular research progress reports. These reports will influence actions and decision on future research. Actively participate in education programmes for staff, students, patients, relatives, and carers, and provide education and support to students and peers who spend time within the research team. Delivery of research To conduct treatment procedures and treatment interventions according to pre-determined protocols, including venepuncture, venous cannulation, and vital sign recording, to assist the clinical teams in delivering research. Maintain accurate patient trial documentation, documentation of patient events in nursing or medical notes and complete Case Record Forms, including the use of electronic data capture systems, ensuring this is an accurate representation of source data. Record and report serious or adverse events, which occur whilst patient, is in the clinical trial to the relevant personnel and act as required. To be a primary or supportive contact point for the clinical staff. Undertake patient database searches and screening responsibilities to identify possible participants for studies. Personal learning and development Complete or maintain GCP certification. Identify own learning needs. Proactively seek educational and training opportunities. Develop skills in accordance with the NIHR Research Competency Framework and any professional frameworks (e.g., Royal College of Nurses Competency Framework) appropriate to the Band 5 role.
