Mid Yorkshire Hospitals is looking for a Community Team Leader ! We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic midwife who has a wide range of midwifery experience and a passion for community midwifery care to join our team. Approximately 5,400 women each year choose to birth at Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. We provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care across the Wakefield district and North Kirklees. At Mid Yorkshire hospitals we are continuing to implement the National maternity Transformation Programme alongside our colleagues in the local maternity System (LMS) the Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) and other community partners. The NHS plan also focuses on care quality and outcomes improvement which forms the drive for our local maternity service improvement strategy. You will utilise your excellent clinical skills and knowledge to drive maternity transformation and to enable the service to meet the needs of the local population. TheSuccessfulcandidate will need to be self-motivated and have experience with leadership and effective communication working alongside a wide multi-disciplinary team including partners within the primary and secondary care setting As a leader you will be crucial to planning and development within your team and ensuring that patient and staff experience is incorporated into all service improvements. Providing specialist advice to junior members of the team. Empowering and encouraging and supporting junior midwives to exercise clinical decision making and accountability. Exercises clinical judgement and have an awareness of all appropriate care pathways. Be responsible for liaising with other Team Leaders for covering antenatal clinics and on-call periods during periods with high sickness levels. To create and maintain a midwifery culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts and innovations. Responsibility for maintaining and improving the experience of women and families, and safeguarding high standards of care. Maintain an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish and be measured. To maintain a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors. Maintain and enhance a culture conductive to learning, and the personal and professional safety, growth and development of all staff. Perform annual appraisal of delegated staff as per Trust policy. To communicate effectively with various individuals and groups. Participates in the recruitment and retention of staff as delegated by the department manager. Investigate incidents, either closing them or escalating to Risk management meeting. To work with the community midwives to minimise complaints. To work with the Human Resource Department to deal with sickness absence, grievance and disciplinary procedures. To participate in the Midwifery on call rota.
