Improvement Advisor with NICE – The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in London
This role is open to either Manchester or London applicants. This secondment or fixed-term opportunity is ideal for a seasoned quality improvement expert. If you have experience supporting projects and programmes using the Model for Improvement and want to expand your skills in a different setting, this is a rare opportunity to support a national organisation with an international reputation for excellence. The Improvement Advisor will support all parts of NICE to improve what they do and their impact through continuous quality improvement (CQI) methods. This role primarily supports the 'Improving Timeliness of Guidance Production' programme by teaching improvement based on the Model for Improvement, coaching teams, and facilitating collaborative learning sessions. The programme brings together projects across medicines, health technology, and guidelines to accelerate testing, learning, and impact. This is the first time NICE is using a consistent approach to improvement to design, test, and scale-up impactful changes across the organisation.The successful candidate will join a motivated CQI team and contribute to developing and embedding support structures for improvement to: o surface and magnify the motivation and agency of everyone to lead change in line with NICE's values and behaviourso develop people's skills through CQI training o provide wraparound support to people involved in improvemento align and integrate CQI with daily work and strategic prioritieso help people tell stories of their improvement journey Supporting all parts of NICE to enhance their impact using the Model for Improvement, primarily focusing on the 'Improving Timeliness of Guidance Production' programme, you will: o Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.o Act as a key interface between operational teams and the Continuous Quality Improvement Team.o Support all levels of staff to identify opportunities to reduce variation and make improvement.o Build relationships and coach teams in improvement.o Help teams apply quality improvement methodology to understand their systems, develop strategies, test ideas, and embed successful changes.o Provide expert support, deliver workshops and training sessions.o Manage external relationships and oversee contractso Plan resource requirements, produce progress reports and conduct benefits analysis.
