Reporting Radiographer | £65 - 73K | Jersey with Health and Community Services in Jersey, Channel Islands
We have a rare opportunity for a reporting radiographer to join our imaging team in Jersey. You must have a post graduate qualification chest reporting plus preferably MSK, and either have, or be willing to work towards, a Masters degree and SOR accreditation. The successful candidate will be working alongside our Consultant-in-training Radiographer and will take an active part in audit and teaching. You will also be expected to maintain your patient-facing clinical skills. We are QSI accredited and are able to offer CPD and development opportunities for all staff. Salary ranges from £65,805 to £73,304 depending on experience and skills, with a 16% contribution from the employer to a pension.A relocation package is offered for off-island candidates. Working as an autonomous practitioner, to provide highly specialist, clinical skills when performing a wide range of modality examinations for patients, including paediatrics and those requiring complex care. As a practitioner with expert knowledge, to be responsible for providing a high quality independent reporting service for their specialty, to all referrers, both internal and external to the hospital. This specialised role encompasses strong elements of leadership and consultancy, alongside research and education and supports the effective planning, development and delivery of the imaging modality. About us 1. Undertake a wide range of specialist clinical work, to include highly complex procedures and the administration of intravenous, oral and/or rectal drugs to patients. To work independently within an agreed scope of practice, with responsibility and accountability for own clinical work. As an expert to demonstrate a high level of skill in clinical situations. This work may include forensic imaging where the work can be distressing. Includes participation in an on-call service. 2. Assess, interpret and report highly specialist/complex examinations from a variety of clinical and imaging sources using free text; taking responsibility for making decisions which will have a direct impact on patient management and treatment. 3. Care for patients who may be very ill, have a range of complex needs and who can be vulnerable. When carrying out intimate examinations special care and attention is required. If safeguarding issues are identified, to be responsible for making a referral. 4. Interpret, share, implement and monitor Government and National policies, standards and guidelines within the specialist area. Adhere to appropriate legislation, the Government of Jersey, HCS and Radiology policies and procedures. Work with the Modality Manager to develop and implement risk assessments. 5. Carry out clinical audit and make recommendations for changes in practice where evidence supports this and communicate/present findings to peers and other healthcare professionals. 6. Monitor the imaging equipment performance, identifying image quality issues and faults and assisting the modality manager in providing solutions through a high level of expertise in clinical practice and image optimisation. 7. Maintain the required knowledge and skills to provide a safe and effective clinical and reporting practice, keeping up to date with current advances in technology and new diagnostic techniques. To be receptive to new ways of working to ensure that the service continues to remain resilient and flexible, responding to changing service pressures and needs. 8. Provide support, training and supervision to staff to ensure delivery of the highest imaging standards. Feedback is given to referring doctors. The reporting radiographer provides regular formal teaching to emergency nurse practitioners and junior doctors. The sonographers provide training to doctors on request. 9. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including attending multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTM) and actively contributing by providing specialist opinion and imaging advice. 10. To attend and contribute to departmental REALM meetings, and to use the opportunity to receive feedback from Consultant colleagues. To conduct audit of own practice, critically assess and address own learning needs and develop a Continuing Professional Development portfolio that reflects the breadth of ongoing professional development.
