Are you motivated, enthusiastic and want to make a real difference? We provide a specialist inpatient service for adults with mental health needs across 3 inpatient wards at the Elgar unit. We are looking for dynamic, flexible, passionate NMC registered mental health nurses & learning disability nurses to join our teams on our 2 acute wards & psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) This post is suitable for both newly qualified & experienced RMNs & RNLDs looking for a new challenge in a fast paced inpatient ward. We can offer from 23 up to 37.5 hours a week. Our working patterns are 2-4 fully rotational long days/ nights (07:00-19:30/19:00-07:30) across a four-week period including weekends and bank holidays. A fully supportive preceptorship programme is provided for newly qualified applicants as well as a welcoming induction, and future career development opportunities. The ability to problem solve, delegate, lead, co-ordinate and manage time effectively Excellent communication and inter-personal skills along with a flexible and responsive approach Close working with all members of the Multi-disciplinary Team Assessment and Management of risk Liaising with other services such as, neighbouring wards, community mental health team, home treatment team, inpatient pathway team, social care, Mental Health Liaison Team and the Acute Trust Effective assessment and care planning Supervising of junior staff, including student nurses & student nurse associates. Use their initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and the service they provide to patients. Demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse/Allied Health Professional (AHP) in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. The post holder will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent. It is expected that registered nurses will be able to carry out all of the core competencies outlined in the job description but their duties and competencies will vary according to speciality agreed extended competencies. Similar or related duties may be undertaken in support of the environment, which are not listed. Administer medication in a safe and timely manner as prescribed, in accordance with Trust policies and training. Measure, monitor and record observations as required e.g. TPR and BP, Oxygen saturation, peak flow, ECG, urine tests, blood glucose monitoring, fluid intake and output NEWS. Ensure that each patient in their care receives an individual nursing assessment and is the subject of a regularly updated care plan which, wherever practicable, is formulated in conjunction with the patient.
