Health Care Assistant 18 hours per week Puddletown Surgery has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and flexible individual to join our friendly, proactive Integrated Nurse Team, to work as a Health Care Assistant. Previous recent experience is preferred, preferably in a General Practice/ Community role. The role will vary depending on the needs of the service. The post holder will be required to provide phlebotomy services, basic dressings, injections, and otherclinical and administrative duties, depending on experience. The post-holder will be required to work in the Surgery and occasionally in the Community setting. Training can be given but we would expect you to have experience of basic level HCA skills/Phlebotomy.You must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, have a caring and sensitive approach to work, good communication skills with patients and other healthcare professionals. About us Job Summary: Working under the direct supervision of the Nurse team lead and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. This is a part time role based on 18hrs per week Duties and Responsibilities may include: ECG recording Phlebotomy Health Checks Smokestop Practitioner Adminster flu, Pneumovax and B12 injections under PSD INR* clinics Practitioner Chaperoning duties Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/ Nurses Infection control monitoring, and cleaning Blood Pressure monitoring Vaccine/ cold chain storage, monitoring and recording and reporting Surgical equipment and stock rotation Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted Entering data on SystmOne Work in the community to support frail patients and the housebound.
