Behaviour Practitioner with Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust in Durham
The Behaviour Practitioner will work across the Adult Learning Disability (ALD) Services in Durham, Darlington & Tees Valley. The role is responsible for overseeing the programme of Positive Support training and working with local ALD services to support its implementation in practice. This is primarily a non-clinical role although there will be occasions when the Behaviour Practitioner will provide direct clinical support to clinical teams, including other Behaviour Practitioners, to help meet the needs of people with a learning disability and their families. Posts available 1 Permanent & 1 Fixed Term - 12 months. Applicants must have a flexible approach to their work and should be able to travel independently to various locations within the Trust if required. Following the review of the Adult Learning Disability Positive Support Strategy we are looking to increase our capacity to deliver an ambitious internal programme of positive support training to staff. To support the delivery of this training programme we are looking to appoint a Behaviour Practitioner. The successful candidate must hold an appropriate qualification in PBS or Behaviour Analysis (i.e. level 5 professional diploma; post graduate level/7). The successful candidates will take a lead role in the delivery and monitoring of the positive support training programme, that will include our competency-based training in PBS. The post-holder may also be required to provide clinical input as a Behaviour Practitioner to clinical teams when required to support implementation of the PBS pathway for people with a learning disability who are at increased risk of presenting behaviours that challenge. We are seeking individuals who are motivated, flexible, and able to communicate effectively. An ability to demonstrate a clear grasp of the roles and responsibilities of working with adults with Learning Disabilities will be essential for this role. Successful candidates will have a commitment to promoting person centred support and the involvement of service users, family members and carers in all aspects of service delivery. About us The main responsibilities of this role are to support the implementation of the positive support training programme. This includes practical assessment of competency-based PBS training. In addition the post-holder will support the delivery of PBS awareness and Quality-of-Life awareness sessions, environmental de-escalation training, person-centred active support and SPELL training. In addition the role will include monitoring standards of training delivered by other Behaviour Practitioners. The successful candidate will also support and provide practice supervision for other professionals who are currently completing BTEC PBS diplomas within the Learning Disability Service. There will also be some opportunity to engage in service development work particularly in relation to the implementation of the Adult Learning Disability Quality-of-Life Passport.
