The Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust is the main healthcare provider for the population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, providing a full range of services. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated Radiographer with an interest in, or experience of Breast Imaging to join our friendly multi-disciplinary team at The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust's Mermaid Centre. The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust's (RCHT) Breast Unit within the Mermaid Centre provides comprehensive breast care to patients from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It is one of the largest Breast Units in the South West and supports the four tier structure having one Consultant Radiographer and four Advanced Practitioner Radiographers undertaking Film Reading and Core Biopsies. Role extension is positively encouraged and training time is allocated to meet individual needs. The Specialist Practitioner will be required to undertake a full range of mammography duties. They will also comply with the Ionising Radiation Regulation (IRR 17), Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) regulation (IR(ME)R 17) and the Trust Radiation Safety Policy. They may authorise any plain film radiography with a referral criteria which falls within the Royal College of Radiologists Guidelines and the Directorate Procedures Manual. Maintains the highest professional standards during the care of patients within the breast imaging service in line with nationally and locally agreed guide lines Providing specialist radiographic breast imaging techniques in the mammography screening service, working within NHSBSP standards. Performing specialised imaging assessment examinations and symptomatic clinics Providing radiographic expertise to the imaging consultants and breast multi-disciplinary team Performing the calibration and QA of the imaging equipment Responsible for supervising and ensuring that junior members of staff and students are trained appropriately and follow departmental procedures About us PLEASE NOTE: To view the full Job Description and Person Specification, please click the supporting document on the right-hand side.
