The post holder will provide operational and professional support to the Lead nurse haematology/oncology in the delivery of the local and national nursing agenda as follows; Provide professional nursing leadership through a strong visible clinical presence within the designated area of responsibility in order to develop nurses and nursing practice and the provision of a safe effective and high quality care environment for children, young people and their family and carers. Support the Lead nurse haematology/oncology to ensure compliance with the National cancer agenda, NICE guidelines and NPSA alerts. Support the Lead Cancer Nurse in promoting the nursing safety agenda. Support the Lead Cancer Nurse in delivering Children's Cancer expert advisory group agenda across the network. The post holder will engage within the clinical areas to ensure high standards of nursing care by providing direction, advice and where necessary intervention. The post holder will contribute to the achievement of the specialty and corporate objectives and the required local and national quality and governance standards by ensuring that all required audits, assessments and reviews are completed within the agreed timeframes that action plans are regularly monitored and integrated into clinical practice within the designated area of responsibility. The post holder will deputies for the Lead nurse haematology/oncology when required.
