Liaison & Diversion Navigator (Health & Justice) - Durham/Darlington with Spectrum Community Health CIC in Darlington/Durham
Spectrum Community Health CIC is one of the leading Health and Justice providers in the country. With our partners (Tees, Esk and Wear Valley MHFT & Humankind) we currently deliver Liaison & Diversion (L&D) services in Cleveland, Durham and North Yorkshire police force areas. L&D is a service which aims to provide early identification and support for vulnerable people as they come to the attention of criminal justice agencies, providing a prompt response to concerns raised by the police, probation, youth offending or court staff. As the role is based in police custody the successful candidate will be subject to both Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Police Vetting checks. In order to be vetted to the required NPPV Level 2 standard, candidates must have a minimum period of 3 years residency in the UK in the period before they are vetted. The post holder will be expected to undertake safeguarding training (Children and Adults) appropriate to their role and adhere to policies and procedures relevant to the area they work in. The current vacancy is a unique opportunity for an exceptional individual to join the L&D team. You will be working in custody to help identify and signpost those who need support to the right service, ensuring the service user links into service partners for support with vulnerabilities such as: homelessness, substance misuse, domestic abuse, offending behavior and/or mental ill-health. Each Navigator will work as the spearhead of the service, identifying and directing service users to partners who will then assess, guide and support service users to access services and interventions that will give them the tools they need to build their resilience, gain confidence and acquire the personal and social assets they need to meet their aspirations. Working at the front end of a pathway, you will be in contact with individuals who can be challenging, have behavioral issues, and lead chaotic lives. You will aim to motivate them to engage with support from partners and aim to improve their wellbeing and reduce their likelihood of re-offending. The successful applicant will be allocated a police custody suite within one of the police force areas but will be expected to travel across the whole police force area in line with day to day demand. Navigators may sometimes be required to cover within another police force area. Custody suites open 7 days a week, however, hours of operation will be 7.00am - 3.00pm Monday to Sunday, with some weekend work on a service need basis.
