We are seeking an Automation Manager (Band 8a) to join our Biochemistry Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This is an exciting leadership opportunity in one of the UK's largest hospital networks, working with a skilled team in a cutting-edge environment. The Automation Manager will oversee technical operations of automation systems, ensuring they support patient care while improving efficiency. You will manage and develop staff, ensuring training and competency standards are met. In this role, you will ensure smooth operation, lead process improvements, and contribute to shaping departmental strategy, enhancing healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. As Automation Manager, you will lead the operational and scientific activities of automation systems in the Biochemistry Department, ensuring alignment with our commitment to exceptional patient care. You will oversee daily operations, maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and service quality, while ensuring the smooth and efficient running of automation processes to deliver accurate results that benefit patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Operational Management of Automation Systems: Manage and optimise automation systems, ensuring efficient operation to meet the clinical team's needs, including system maintenance and troubleshooting. Staff Training and Competency: Develop and implement training programs by supporting the training officer Team Leadership and Development: Lead a diverse team of biomedical scientists and support staff, providing recruitment, mentoring, and career development opportunities. Change Management and Process Improvement: Drive innovation, process improvements in laboratory operations and supporting change initiatives. Monitor performance metrics. Collaboration with Senior Leadership: Work closely with senior leadership to define departmental strategies, set goals, identify improvement areas, and implement best practices.
