Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics with Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in Norwich
Committed to a career in T&O? Looking for step up in higher training? If so, then we would really love to hear from you. We are currently looking for a T&O Senior Clinical Fellow, (ST6-8 equivalent), at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals. This is a non-deanery post, so is not recognised for specialty training, but is intended to fill a vacancy within the NNUH T&O Trainee rota. Consequently, this post is ideal for those who are committed to a career in Trauma & Orthopaedics, and are looking for ST6-8 level experience. With experience in all specialties in Trauma and Orthopaedics , it would suit a candidate looking for this experience specifically for their training requirements. You would be offered similar training opportunities to the specialty trainees, including access to regional teaching and participation in local audit and research opportunities. The unit admits large numbers of elective and emergency patients per day and thus will offer you a wealth of experience and training in all aspects of Trauma & Orthopaedics, particularly general Orthopaedic trauma, upper limb and paediatric orthopaedics. You will work closely with our senior clinical teams and benefit from their experience and knowledge allowing you to expand your own clinical experience every day, with opportunities to bolster your portfolio for the next round of the national selection process. In general, the appointed individuals will be expected to work in fracture and elective clinics, trauma and elective operating lists and care for patients on the ward (working effectively with junior members of the team such as Core and Foundation trainees, alongside other HCPs, such as Specialist Nurse Practitioners). Whilst this post is not recognised for training nor Deanery approved, an Educational Supervisor will be allocated to the fellow. The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals. All employees, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trust's Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management. About us Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practise, have between over 18 months experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics and must hold MRCS or FRCS. This post is 12 months fixed term but employment could be extended as needed. Interested? Any further questions? Please contact Helen Chase, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Norfolk & Norwich on 01603 287610 or via helen.chase@nnuh.nhs.uk for an informal discussion. Please see the attached Job Description for the full details of the post and the person specification.
