Specialist Occupational Therapist - Acute Inpatient with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Newport, Isle of Wight
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist looking to progress to the next step to become a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within Acute setting. There is a good training opportunity within the team and ability to experience a wide range of different acute specialities during this time -- emergency care, medicine of the elderly, respiratory, orthopaedic, and surgical. A Band 5 to 6 development post will also be considered for the right applicant. We will provide the individual with a 6-month training programme, provided by experienced therapists with the focus on developing clinical and leadership skills for the successful candidate to make the transition from a Band 5 to a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. You will work through a set of specific competencies that will be required to be signed off prior to obtaining the band 6 post. The expectation will be to progress to a Band 6 within 7 months depending on current experience. This is a fixed term/secondment post that will end on 31st May 2025. We are looking for an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist with an interest in specialising within acute. It is essential they have good clinical skills, good communication and interpersonal skills. The post-holder must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, have good organisational, time management skills, problem solving skills and an enthusiasm for service development. The Band 6 OT will manage a clinical caseload and will undertake a lead role in assessing, treating and discharge planning. The post holder will work closely with the MDT Applicants must be prepared to participate in our 7-day working service and have a driving licence.
