**Please note that this role is 50% clinical, 50% medical education** As a Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Education Fellow you will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in PEM and in medical education. Leicester Royal Infirmary is home of the East Midlands Emergency Medicine Educational Media (EM3) team, you would be working as part of their award winning MDT team to provide relevant training for staff both in house and website content. You will undertake clinical duties at middle grade level in one of the countries busiest Childrens' Emergency Departments and have the opportunity to undertake a funded medical education PgCert. Also, as an Emergency Medical Education OOPE you will be responsible for setting up and the delivery of Regional and local teaching sessions. This will include liaising with the Medical Staffing Team when it comes to the Induction programme. Other teaching activities will include shop floor teaching dates and delivery of the programme, CBD clinics, Simulation sessions and Education meetings. As a centre of contact you will be working closely with other Emergency Department professionals, Consultant Leads, Education Team and Medical Staffing Team. Clinically you will be expected to maintain a high standard of clinical care for children and their families attending the department. Working at middle grade level with direct consultant support on the clinical floor between the hours of 08.00 and 01.00 it would be anticipated you clerk patients in order of clinical priority, make and initiate management plans and support junior staff. Support education for all grades of medical practitioners in the department, contribute to the development and delivery of the educational programmes and content. About us As detailed in previous sections the role is an integral part of our team. It gives the opportunity to learn and develop as a medical educator but also an interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. Duties and Responsibilities Medical Education Aid the Post Graduate Education lead in overseeing education for all grades of medical practitioners in the department Contribute to the development and delivery of the educational programmes within the Emergency Department. This will include the Adult or Paediatric educational content of the East Midlands Healthcare Workforce Deanery VLE to facilitate blended Develop and enhance the Departmental Simulation programme Maintain and develop the departmental FOAMed content for org.uk and contributing to RCEM Learning where able Support the facilitation of WBPA (dedicated shop floor teaching sessions and CBD clinics) Work within the Emergency Department Educational Team who will be responsible to the Medical Director and Associate Medical Director for Medical Education Link with the UHL Educational strategy focussing on quality and governance Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education Understand the core principles and issues in Medical Education The principles of learning Teaching and Learning in the clinical setting Curriculum Design, implementation and monitoring Assessing the learner Clinical duties and responsibilities: Whilst on duty the appointee will be clinically and professionally responsible for their patients. It will also be their duty to: keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition; involve patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) in decision making about their treatment; maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMCs guidance on Good Medical Practice as amended or substituted from time to time; carry out any work related to and reasonably incidental to the duties set out in their Job Plan e.g. the keeping of records and the provision of reports, the proper delegation of tasks, maintaining skills and knowledge.
