Freedom to Speak Up Lead Guardian with Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon
A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual to work at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. Would you like to be the leading force in driving forward the Freedom to Speak Up agenda across the Trust. As Lead Guardian you will do this with the support of volunteer guardians who facilitate the service through volunteering within their existing paid roles. The ideal candidate must have a flexible proactive attitude as they will work alongside the wider Divisional teams across organisational and professional boundaries to support the delivery the service. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have experience and understanding of National Health services, with demonstrable organisational skills and be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. You must have good and clear leadership skills and evidence of supporting staff across all roles. A flexible approach is needed to manage the changing picture in line with the National agenda, driving the service forward to embed all aspects of Freedom to Speak Up. The Trust recognises that in order for staff to deliver high-quality care they must have a safe and supportive working environment. Staff must feel able to raise concerns, confident in the knowledge that they will be listened to, that action will be taken and that they will be thanked and acknowledged for living the values of the NHS. The purpose of the Freedom to Speak Up Lead Guardian role is to protect patient safety and quality of care, to improve the experience of workers and to promote Learning and Improvement. They will act as the first point of contact to support employees and signpost them to the relevant support accordingly. The Freedom to Speak Up Lead Guardian will act in a genuinely independent and impartial capacity to support employees who raise concerns. The Freedom to Speak Up Lead Guardian role will provide support for the other guardians and well as leading and developing the service. About us 1. To lead the Freedom to Speak Up service, using all opportunities to promote and develop the service. To ensure the service is compliant with all National requirements.2. Work in collaboration with the Associate Director of Nursing - Insights and Learning to support with the implementation and sustainability of the Freedom to Speak Up service within the organisation.3. To prepare and submit data to the National Guardians office, ensuring that systems are in place to review and analyse the data, reporting any trends. 4. To prepare and present reports and publications internally and externally as required. Using analytical skills to interpret complex facts from the data and providing a thematic understanding of the data and where required, presentation of options for change or improvement.5. To work autonomously, impartially and objectively, whilst working in partnership with individuals and groups throughout the Trust, including the senior leadership team.6. Seek guidance and support from and, where appropriate, escalate matters to, bodies outside of the Trust.7. Support, and contribute to, the national Freedom to Speak Up Guardian network, comply with National Guardian Office guidance, and support each other by providing peer-to-peer support and sharing learning.8. Working closely with the National Guardian Office, you will embrace and take part in training, support, networking and peer to peer relationships to share and learn from best practice.
