Emergency Department Nurse with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279) in Haywards Heath
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses. We are seeking to employ experienced Band 5 nurses to join our Emergency Department team at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. We are part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The Emergency Department consists of a 3 bay Resuscitation Room , a large, recently refurbished unit with 15 Majors cubicles, ACDU and 3 bay PAT area. We are keen to recruit enthusiastic, motivated nurses/paramedics, who have excellent communication skills and are able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment . The Emergency Department can be hard work, however, being able to deliver great care is something we pride ourselves on and strive to deliver as a team. Applicants should ideally have a minimum of 6 months acute hospital experience. We have an established induction and rotational programme through the department to support you, led by our Senior Practice Development Sister and Band 7 team. We follow the RCN National Curriculum and Competency Framework for Emergency Nursing, and are committed to supporting and developing all nurses, in order for each individual to flourish in their role and become confident and effective Emergency Nurses. These posts will include internal rotation, days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. We currently have a shift pattern of 12.5hr days and nights. About us To provide high quality, safe care to a variety of patients and their families who attend the emergency department. To provide a high standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care as required within the Emergency Department. To utilise a variety of strategies and communicate effectively with patients and their family/carers. Liaise with the MDT, other departments within the trust and pertinent agencies outside the organisation. In order to deliver the above, you will require an excellent understanding and knowledge of adult health needs and be able to work in a fast paced environment To provide high quality, safe care to a variety of patients and their families who attend the emergency department. In order to deliver the above, you will require an excellent understanding and knowledge of adult health needs and be able to work in a fast paced environment Role and Responsibilities Assessment of care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care Identify patients individual dependency care needs and provide support for physical, psychological and social requirements. Provide patients emergency care in all areas of the Accident and Emergency Department. Rapid assessment and early identification of serious illness and /or injury and initiation of urgent treatment. Timely multi-tasking and prioritising to meet excessive service demand. Participate in supporting relatives and friends following traumatic events, serious injury, illness and death of children and adults. Provide care for aggressive and/or violent patients whilst optimising other patients safety. Actively participate in the care pathways associated with patients presenting with Mental Health issues in frequent challenging circumstances. Awareness of child protection and vulnerable adult procedures and act accordingly. Adhere to departmental agendas and procedures implemented to support Government targets. Advise on the promotion of health and prevention of illness. Work in collaboration with all Team members to ensure that care delivery is evidence based and in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Ensure that all patients needs are identified and programmes of care are implemented to meet individual patient needs. Ensure that best practice in care is delivered. Teach/assess and facilitate learning for all learners in the ward area, particularly students and healthcare assistants having undertaken Mentorship qualification. To work as part of a team ensuring effective communication with all health care professionals within the clinical team and across all disciplines.
