East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) invites applications for a Specialty Doctor (ST3 level +) in Haematology based at Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General hospital. The clinical team currently comprises 5 consultant/specialist grade haematologists, 2 specialty doctors, a JCF, an ACP, four clinical nurse specialists and a cancer support worker. The department is warm, friendly, open and supportive and has a professional and friendly working relationship with all teams involved in the care of haematology patients. The job plan covers all aspects of a Specialty Doctor's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It provides a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. Job plans are reviewed on an annual basis. The post is available full time, part time working will be considered. About us The Department provides a clinical and laboratory service, managing a full range of haematological conditions to BCSH level 2a. Salvage therapy and high dose therapy cases are referred to Royal Victoria Hospital Blackpool and Central Manchester Haematology centres. Clinical haematology in-patient beds are ring fenced, with junior doctor cover provided by the medical team. The modern Blood Sciences laboratory is accredited to UKAS ISO15189. ELHT holds a weekly independent haemato-oncology MDT, with diagnostic services provided by HMDS Leeds and Radiotherapy services provided by Royal Preston Hospital. The MDT is highly rated in the recent cancer peer review.
