An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our cardiology team as a full time permanent Heart Failure Nurse Specialist based within the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The Heart Failure Nurse Specialist team are instrumental in delivering care to heart failure patients from diagnosis through to end of life. Providing clinical advice both within Cardiology and the wider Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust. The Nurse Specialists hold clinics within the Royal Victoria Infirmary in order to provide both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments to optimize treatment options to heart failure patients. You will work closely with cardiology consultant colleagues, as well as Cardiology Ward Nursing Team and Cardiology Nurse Practitioners, in a friendly supportive environment. You will also work in collaboration with our community heart failure nursing team. The assessment and review patients within the inpatient settings for instance within ward round settings is a key instrumental part of this role. Suitable candidates should have recent and relevant cardiology experience, as well as history taking and assessment. Non-medical prescribing is also desirable not training will be considered. Interview Date Wednesday 09 April 2025 37 Hours 30 Minutes/Week NO AGENCIES PLEASE Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate the following Significant advanced knowledge and skills within specialty and sphere of practice Take a lead role facilitating the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients Support the development of nursing practice within the specialist field and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge Have the ability to act as clinical supervisor to peers e.g. other heart failure team members Provide specialist clinical advice and support to heart failure related multidisciplinary teams, as well as to wider clinical teams responsible for patient care Enable patients with heart failure to attain their best possible quality of life by titration of medication, on-going monitoring of condition and education, this may occur both within in patient and outpatient settings Require enhanced communication skills to convey complex information regarding medical diagnosis, management and prognosis to patients and other health care professionals Ensure robust data recording to enable accurate activity collection About us The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust define a nurse specialist as a qualified nurse where the primary purpose of role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to patients, carers and health professionals concerning a specific disease/condition.
