An exciting opportunity has become available to the join the Medical Imaging Team at Leighton Hospital as a PACS and RIS Assistant Support Manager. This is offered as a full-time substantive post. The post holder will be required to work Monday to Friday within the Medical Imaging PACS/RIS team alongside the PACS and RIS Lead, clinical staff, and Medical Imaging Service Manager. As a member of the Radiology Systems team you will contribute to the delivery of an efficient and responsive radiology service. Perform a range of administrative and system support functions under the guidance of the Radiology Systems Manager to ensure that the integrity of PACS and RIS (Radiology Information System) data is maintained. You will also assist with training new staff/users as required. About us System Administration Deal with unspecified images in the PACS database This requires: A knowledge and understanding of data flow between the Patient Administration System, the Radiology Information System and the PACS databases. Some knowledge of procedures and workflow within the radiology department. An appreciation of the need for accuracy and concentration when using the administration tools on the systems. Import images onto PACS from other healthcare organisations, either on film, CD or sent electronically. This includes: Use of specialised workstation. Data entry on RIS. Reconciliation of images of PACS. Accurate record keeping. Export images from PACS to other organisations, either planned or urgently. This includes: Production of CDs of images for medico legal use. Electronic transfer of images. Accurate record keeping. Monitoring the generic PACS email account for image transfer requests. Ensure the PACS and RIS databases are accurate and up to date. This includes: Merging duplicate patient records. Creating events. Checking for empty image folders. Checking for unallocated, unreported or unprocessed examination events. Autoreporting examinations where appropriate. Create and maintain user accounts following appropriate protocols and procedures. Assist in the training of users to access to images and data on the legacy PACS and RIS systems. General Ensure the PACS Manager is kept informed as problems are encountered that affect the provision of the image management service. Respond to situations as they arise, including unplanned system downtime. Liaise with the IM&T department in the absence of the System Manager when hardware/software issues cannot be resolved locally. With the support of the PACS team independently problem solve and resolve issues alerting the relevant staff member as appropriate. Communicate with staff both within and outside the directorate in a response to requests from system end users. Help to promote safe use of IT equipment through both personal example and understanding of the importance of maintenance and proper usage. Undertake other duties required by the Radiology Systems Manager due to the demands of the imaging service. To co-operate with all staff in the provision of the service and constantly seek ways of improving all aspects of the service. To promote good communication with patients, visitors and all staff, within and outside of the radiology department, handling patient and staff concerns in a sensitive manner in line with Trust policy. To assist with audit and research projects as required. To carry out other duties as and when required ensuring the smooth running of the radiology department. To provide a professional standard of communication to all medical, nursing, technical and ancillary staff. To provide a commitment to personal service in the provision of the highest quality of patient care at all times and to actively participate in programmes to develop excellent standards of patient care throughout the Trust, for example patient surveys, standard setting and auditing etc. To demonstrate and promote the highest levels of data quality and security. To use the departmental computerised patient information systems efficiently and to comply with the Data Protection Act. To adhere strictly to the departmental policies with regard to Health & Safety. Specific attention is drawn to: Ionising Radiation Regulations/IRMER Control of Substances Hazardous to Health District Fire Policy Lifting & Handling Policy Health & Safety Policy Ensure that any malfunction or breakdown of any equipment is reported to appropriate responsible party in a timely fashion.
