Band 6 Podiatrist with Healthshare Group in London
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, well organised and motivated podiatrist to join our team, providing a range of podiatric care across London. You will be responsible for assessment and planning of individual patient care, working autonomously and as part of the wider team, so excellent communication skills and team working are essential. You must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of current evidence-based practice and be able to apply this appropriately clinically. A drive to improve your skills and expand your expertise is desirable. We deliver patient care in a variety of clinical and community settings with a caseload focusing on the medically at risk and/or those with a high podiatric need. You will be involved in nail surgery sessions, high risk clinics and have the opportunity to rotate through the foot protection team and musculoskeletal clinics. You will work alongside experienced podiatrists and encouraged in your professional development. We are committed to CPD and promoting evidence-based practice and a high standard of care throughout the service. We offer support through regular 1:1 meetings, clinical supervision, in-house CPD, and ongoing training to support the development of our staff. Newly qualified podiatrists are welcome to apply. We require a degree/diploma in podiatric medicine and HCPC registration. Work as an integral member of the podiatry team to deliver quality programs of podiatric care to patients who have an assessed need. Provide treatment at a variety of sites including a patients home, clinics, hospitals & elsewhere often working in isolation. Work as part of a MDT and acting as a source of advice to patients, carers, GPs & other Health Care Professionals. Be responsible for the day to day operational management of a specific clinic location, working as a lone practitioner in some cases. About us Clinical duties: To be legally and professionally accountable for all aspect of own work, including the management of patients in your care. To assess, diagnose, treat and mange a caseload of patients, in line with the podiatry service criteria. Apply effective assessment and diagnostic criteria to formulate agreed treatment plans, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide range of clinical needs including: High risk diabetes, chronic disease (chronic neuropathies, rheumatoid arthritis, vascular problems), ulcer / would management, people with acquired or congenital disabilities and those that present with challenging behaviours. And where appropriate, referral to specialist practitioners, other health care professionals or discharge. Undertake diagnostic procedures using appropriate equipment e.g. Doppler ultrasound, wound swabs etc. Effectively, interpreting, recording and reporting the results. To maintain high professional standards and code of conduct according to departmental and HCPC guidelines. To undertake basic biomechanical assessments in order to prescribe and dispense orthoses. To undertake surgical intervention using local anaesthesia for complex nail pathologies. Undertake health promotion activities to groups / individuals / clients and other professionals as appropriate. To be proficient in the use of information technologies including video consultations with clients and for in-service training. To communicate effectively with all clients and relatives regarding the appointment / procedural systems and relevant healthcare advice, e.g. home treatment plans, exercise regimes. Adhere to all service statements within the Podiatry Operational Guidelines and joint working practices and protocols of the team. To maintain accurate electronic clinical records and to understand the documentation process. The post holder will be required to work in a poor environment. It is the responsibility of the podiatrist to highlight any health and safety issues and to undertake a risk assessment to minimise / reduce risks. Professional: To work as an autonomous clinician working within professional and organisational guidelines. Monitoring emails and tasks on a daily basis and responding in a timely manner. To keep up to date with clinical and professional developments. To participate in the departments Clinical Governance initiatives and developments, including research and audit. To undertake, demonstrate and log continued professional development. To ensure all clients receive the appropriate quality of care at all time whilst observing the policies and procedures of the organisation. Contribute to departmental development, participating in staff meetings and professional working groups and being a role model for junior staff. To participate in individual performance review, one to one meetings and clinical supervision. To complete the organisations mandatory training in accordance with the mandatory training policy.
