This post is a permanent full time (10PA) post for a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery. An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join a dynamic team of consultants. The post-holder must have a specialist interest in hip and knee arthroplasty to a fellowship standard. The post-holder will be expected to take part in the on call trauma rota. Along with our existing team of 18 consultants, the post-holder will provide a comprehensive trauma and orthopaedic service to our local population of approximately 500,000. There is an active postgraduate teaching and research programme within the department and with 18 junior and career grade medical staff, the post holder will be involved in the teaching programmes. The post will be based at the RUH and will rotate operate duties at the Sulis Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SEOC). The holder will participate in audit, governance and directorate meetings and undertake administrative duties as required by the Clinical Lead in Trauma & Orthopaedics. A commitment to maintain professional expertise by attendance at meetings and courses is expected. The appointee will be expected to arrange an annual appraisal. An interest in research and teaching is expected with participation in projects, courses, etc. to enhance the standing and role of the Department and Trust. Attendance at, and organisation of relevant meetings is expected. The post holder may be expected to cover for colleagues when absent.
