Anaesthetic & Theatre Performance Officer with The Christie NHS FT in Manchester
We are seeking a dedicated Anaesthetic and Theatre Performance Officer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient utilisation of anaesthetic and theatre resources, playing a key role in providing timely treatment for surgical patients. You will work closely with Service Managers, medical staff, ward managers, and The Christie Private Care Clinic to ensure patient care aligns with key performance indicators (KPIs) and Referral to Treatment (RTT) targets. The post is fixed term for 12 months and is full time, 37.5 hours per week. COVID Vaccine is not essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: o Monitor cancelled operations and admissions, supporting Service Managers to ensure timely treatment in line with RTT targets. o Ensure accurate reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and adherence to patient access targets and quality standards. o Collaborate with medical staff, ward managers, and The Christie Private Care Clinic to coordinate planned elective admissions and align duty rosters with activity levels. o Lead the modernisation of processes and systems to enhance service delivery, with support from senior management. o Play a proactive role in ensuring the service meets agreed objectives, including quality and patient care standards. Essential Qualifications & Skills: o Experience in healthcare administration or theatre coordination. o Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure. o Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with multidisciplinary teams. o A proactive approach to problem-solving and service improvement. o Familiarity with RTT targets and patient flow processes is desirable About us Setting Direction To further establish and maintain the information and performance management systems for Anaesthetics & Theatres supporting the respective Service Managers in the delivery of key objectives and targets. Service Delivery To be responsible for all administration services provided within their area of responsibility. To further develop appropriate systems, policies, procedures and management arrangements for delivering effective waiting list management. Have an understanding of the 62 day and patient access targets for the purpose of performance, including The Christie Clinic. Review and analyse theatre data to track patients and take proactive action in order to support patient access targets. To develop and implement measures to ensure that services are cost effective and undertake regular benchmarking and auditing of processes. To ensure full compliance with all Trust Governance Standards including the assessment and management of identified risks. To monitor theatre activity and complete audits as required. Ensure the production of all monitoring and performance reports relating to anaesthetics and theatres. Support in completion of financial paperwork such as locum shifts and study leave requests. Support in the delivery of anaesthetic and speciality doctor rotas ensuring there is appropriate and safe clinical cover for all sessions. Ensure completion of CCU prioritisation / CCU bed updates. Monitoring of Theatres shared mailbox ensuring emails are dealt with in a timely manner. Action taking at weekly 6-4-1 and scheduling meetings and ensuring these actions are completed in the agreed timeframe. Responsible for creating users and personnel on Theatreman system and updating Theatre templates when necessary. Development and Innovation To take a lead role in identifying and implementing new and innovative ways to improve the patients journey through to treatment within Theatres. To assist the Service Managers in reviewing and developing new policies and procedures when identifying operational issues To take responsibility for his/her performance and take action to address identified personal development areas To support innovation and change within your area to underpin the modernisation of services, in line with the Trust transformational workstreams. Under take training programmes for the key users on theatre schedule and input data system. Collaborative Working Work closely with the Deputy Service Manager, Service Managers, Medical staff and Theatre Manager on all aspects of theatre information and performance management. Maintain effective working relationships with all staff Effective communicate with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing staff and patients. Communication and Information Management To maintain and review effective information systems to facilitate the collation of theatre information and reports as required by the Management Team to meet both internal and external Trust reporting requirements. To liaise closely with the independent sector colleagues to ensure that patient lists are supplied and received in a timely manner and maintain effective communication channels To liaise with ward managers regarding the level of planned admissions so duty roster can be planned in accordance with activity and expected date of discharge information. To work along with senior theatre team to support service delivery. Quality To work within the requirements of the Trusts integrated governance framework, ensuring that all policies relating to delivery of administrative services meet relevant legislative and policy requirements for the Theatre Service Financial and Resource Management To support the Service Managers with the management of budgets and to ensure all financial targets are met. To work within budgetary constraints and to provide advice on the costs and benefits of planned developments within theatre scheduling. People Management and Development To provide operational theatre administration support across the Directorate To promote the corporate values and culture of the organisation through the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures appropriate to personal behaviour. To contribute and to be an effective member of the Management Team To take responsibility for your own performance and take action to address identified personal development areas. To ensure that theatre scheduling supports a culture of effective team working, continuous improvement and innovation. Participate as required in the selection and appointment of staff in accordance with Trust guidelines.
