As a diabetes and weight management dietitian at the Royal Devon for our Northern services, youll be joining a small, friendly team of dietitians based at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple. Were looking for a HCPC registered dietitian, experience of diabetes and weight management would be advantageous but not essential, the role would also be suitable for an experienced Band 5 looking to progress or an existing Band 6 wanting to specialise. This is primarily an out-patient role with occasional in-patient diabetes cover for the wards, working as a key clinician within both the diabetes and weight management multidisciplinary teams. Youll be working closely with our tier 3 weight management service senior clinician and provide cross cover where needed. Our innovative service includes working with pre-insulin initiation patients to prevent or delay the requirement for insulin. Youll also be delivering and developing clinics and patient education groups. Opportunities within the role: Involvement with the National Diabetes Audits Potential for dietetic led gestational diabetes management (candidate dependant). Developing your teaching skills by supporting and training student dietitians Manage specialist outpatient clinics for adults referred Develop professional, specialised programmes of care, including dietetic assessment, education and intervention, to patients of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and their carers Training and development opportunities are in high supply here, whether you are interested in clinical or leadership development courses we'll support you in finding the best way to grow. We actively encourage CPD and you will have an opportunity to spend time with our range of specialists as part of your CPD. Innovation is central to therapies at the Royal Devon, demonstrated by the implementation of several new initiatives and the development of non-traditional roles in recent years including a Research and Innovation Lead. We are not afraid of adopting new techniques and are one of few teams nationally where dietitians are able to place NG tubes as a result of meeting a need that arose during the COVID pandemic. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 30 hours Interview Date: To be confirmed Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later.
