Band 5 Paediatric Nurse (Surgical Interest) As a band 5 with a specialist interest in paediatric surgery you would support the Team leader and the Ward Manager in transforming the nursing surgical framework on Treehouse. The post holder will predominately work Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm shifts. This would involve helping to develop a pre- operative service, supporting in the development of the Walk in, Walk out (WIWO) model and working closely with members of the theatre team, admitting patients and preparing them for theatre and discharging patients safely to the community setting. The post holder will predominately work on the day case surgical unit and will also have a opportunity pro rota to work on the treehouse ward, which allows development within areas of paediatric high dependency, medical care and paediatric assessment unit. This supports the post holder to develop multi specialised skills within both settings to provide a seamless patient experience. Post holders will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review processes in order to achieve the skills required to deliver the role effectively and efficiently. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team they will be an accountable practitioner responsible for the pre operative assessment of patients requiring elective surgery, using established clinical guidelines. As a staff nurse on paediatrics with surgical interest, you will be expected to deliver compassionate, safe, high quality, care for children of all ages within our large unit. You will support the development of surgical processes in a daycase surgical setting. You should be enthusiastic, motivated with good interpersonal skills and able to problem solve and prioritise during periods of pressure. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, you will be required to deliver and supervise patient care for the clinical area, ensuring assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a high standard of care. Working in conjunction with the team to deliver safe patient and family centred care within a challenging and changing clinical environment. You will provide leadership by supporting junior nurses and students. You will be expected to work autonomously within the Walk In Walk Out (WIWO) setting providing sound surgical knowledge to support a effective patient flow to achieve a safe positive surgical experience. If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
