The role of Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust involves promoting the success of the organisation through active participation in a unitary board, which is accountable for the Trust's performance. In addition to general responsibilities, the postholder will chair the Audit Committee, tasked with reviewing the Trust’s financial statements and governance compliance. They will oversee risk management and internal control, collaborate with auditors, and ensure robust financial practices. Critical to this role is bringing independent financial expertise to enhance assurance processes and managing any areas requiring further action to the board. The individual will also participate in governor meetings to consider diverse community views and further the Trust’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
